Between March 31 and April 4, a delegation from the University of Genoa—composed of Prof. Paolo Piccardo, project coordinator; Prof. Roberto Spotorno, member of the academic board; Prof. Pietro Marescotti, current coordinator of the degree course in Methodologies for Conservation and Restoration; and Dissemination Project Manager Matilde Pedemonte—visited the University of Montenegro as a project partner in CORES.
CORES (Conservation and Restoration Sciences) is a project funded under the European Erasmus Mundus Design Measure program for the creation of the Joint Master Degree of the same name. The University of Genoa is the coordinating institution, with five prestigious partners participating: Université Bordeaux Montaigne, Universidad de Sevilla, Université Côte d’Azur, University of Münster, and the University of Montenegro.
During a meeting with Dr. Sanja Pekovic, Vice-Rector for Internationalization at the University of Montenegro, the UniGe delegation discussed the importance of the project, the progress made so far, and the next steps. Particular attention was given to institutional support, academic mobility, and strengthening cooperation among the partner universities within the Ulysseus network.
The various meetings took place at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, and later at the Faculty of Metallurgy and Technology in Podgorica. In addition to presenting the CORES project, research from the different departments involved in the current master’s degree course in Methodologies for the Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage was showcased. The delegation was welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Irena Nikolic, and discussions included curricular plans, organizational models, and the multidisciplinary approach of the program.
Special attention was given to the aim of creating a truly cross-disciplinary degree program, with the goal of developing courses that involve multiple instructors teaching the same subject, offering students diverse and ever-evolving perspectives.
The meeting with the Montenegrin partners is part of a series of bilateral meetings planned to better define the educational and scientific contributions to the forthcoming Joint Master Degree. The main objective remains to create a program that upholds the principles of multidisciplinarity and a plurality of competencies.
Upcoming meetings include bilateral sessions with the University of Münster and the Université Côte d’Azur, as well as the second General Meeting at Université Bordeaux Montaigne.
